I intend
each sculptural juxtaposition to stand alone, separate in its own space,
precise in its formation. I clearly consider each construction yet
am interested in their enigmatic simplicity. I want the works to seem
complete and self-contained yet to also provoke us to speculate on
the sources of their beauty and their suggestive power. Their categorical
oppositions suggest new variants of conceptual art even as the glorious
gaudiness of the furry fabric or pelts announce that the spirit of
pop is alive. As idea driven as they are they are also sensuous, contrasting
stone cold remains of life gone past with the excessively luxurious.
These works are about the strangeness of existence.
